This Quantum Q6 Edge 2.0 powerchair has been configured as a highly capable mid-wheel drive indoor/outdoor chair, combining Quantum’s ATX suspension base with the full TRU-Balance 3 seating system for stability, comfort and clinical positioning.
At its core is the Q6 Edge 2.0 mid-wheel drive base, fitted with Quantum’s ATX suspension system, delivering excellent traction and obstacle climbing while maintaining a smooth ride. Power is provided by two 62Ah batteries and 4 mph motors, giving dependable everyday performance with tight manoeuvrability indoors and confident handling outside.
The chair is fitted with 3" × 14" flat-free black drive tyres, paired with 2" × 6" flat-free front and rear castors. This configuration provides puncture-proof reliability and minimal maintenance while maintaining good traction across typical urban terrain.
Seating is built around the TRU-Balance 3 (TB3) seating system, Quantum’s modular rehabilitation seating platform. This chair has been specified with a 16" wide by 20" deep seat, providing a stable seating base with room for postural support adjustments. The TB3 system includes an active contour back shell with TRU-Comfort back cushion and wedge inserts, allowing clinicians to fine-tune positioning and pressure distribution.
For pressure management and positioning, the configuration includes a TRU-Balance seat cushion, designed to balance skin protection with stability for daily use. Alongside this is the powered function 'tilt' which enables a 0 - 50 degree tilt, a powered reclining backrest with 175 degrees of recline and anti-shear technology and powered elevating and articulating legrests.
The back support is mounted on the TB3 adjustable back system, allowing the back angle to be set within a clinical range for comfort and posture management. This structure provides a rigid mounting platform for the contour backrest while still allowing adjustment over time as needs change.
The chair is equipped with TB3 flip-back arm supports with adjustable height and lateral positioning. These arms make transfers easier and allow the user to move closer to desks or tables when needed.
For lower-limb support, the chair uses a centre-mount foot platform with split footplates, a practical and supportive solution that keeps the legs well positioned while maintaining a compact turning circle.
Safety and positioning are enhanced with a padded positioning pelvic belt, helping maintain pelvic stability during driving and when using seating functions.
Control is via the Quantum Q-Logic control system, operated through a right-hand mounted joystick. This system provides precise proportional driving control and can be expanded to support additional power seating functions if required. The chair is programmed with the standard 4 mph driving profile.
Overall this specification produces a balanced everyday powerchair: compact enough for indoor use but robust enough for outdoor environments, combined with the adjustability and support of Quantum’s TRU-Balance 3 seating platform.
