About Cinque Ports Mobility

Cinque Ports Mobility is a Kent-based wheelchair and clinical mobility specialist working with individuals, families and professional referrers across the county.

The business began as a family company and, although ownership has evolved over time, that mindset has never left. Today the company is led by two directors with a combined 40 years in the mobility industry, supported by a team of seven across engineering, assessment, administration and accounts. We are small enough to know our clients personally, but experienced enough to manage complex provision confidently.

We are members of the British Healthcare Trades Association and are well recognised locally for maintaining professional standards. Over many years we have worked closely with physiotherapists and occupational therapists, developing our knowledge through practical collaboration as well as formal training in seating and posture management. Two members of our team are currently completing the Oxford seating course, reflecting our ongoing commitment to developing expertise rather than standing still.

Mobility equipment should never be provided in isolation. It forms part of a wider clinical and personal picture, and we try to approach every assessment with that in mind.

Assessment rather than sales

Every enquiry begins with understanding the individual first — their posture, environment, daily routine, long-term goals and, often, the emotional weight that can come with needing specialist equipment. This industry carries a tension that is rarely spoken about: people do not want to need mobility equipment, yet they must invest in it to maintain independence. We try to reduce that pressure by focusing on suitability and long-term outcomes rather than persuasion.

If something is not appropriate, we will say so. If we are not the right provider for a particular need, we will help guide people towards someone they can trust. Our growth has come through professional relationships and word of mouth across Kent rather than advertising, which has allowed us to stay measured and independent in our recommendations.

Thoughtful partnerships

We are deliberate about the manufacturers we represent. We do not take on brands simply to broaden a catalogue, and we avoid adopting new products without careful evaluation. Representing a manufacturer within our region carries responsibility to clients and to the wider clinical network, and we approach those partnerships carefully.

Ongoing support

Provision does not end at handover. Many of the people we work with require ongoing adjustments, servicing or technical support as their needs change. We provide annual reviews where appropriate, six-monthly or annual servicing, programming adjustments, accident repairs, breakdown support and insurance work. Our engineering team is in-house, so support remains connected to the original assessment rather than being outsourced to unfamiliar third parties.

We are also accredited to operate within the Motability Scheme, a regulated contract hire programme that requires Financial Conduct Authority permissions and ongoing compliance. Motability accreditation is granted only to established providers who meet strict operational and governance standards, and it reflects our ability to deliver structured, accountable long-term support.

Working within Kent

We focus on Kent deliberately. By maintaining a defined geographical boundary, we are able to respond promptly, maintain personal working relationships and uphold consistent standards of service. That regional focus allows us to stay accessible and accountable to the community we serve.

Our approach is steady and long term. It is built around people, relationships and responsible provision rather than short-term transactions, and we believe that consistency ultimately serves clients better than scale.
