Quantum’s powered wheelchair range is built around prescriptive design rather than “one-size-fits-all” platforms. Across the Edge and 4Front models, the emphasis is on strong chassis engineering, configurable seating, and control systems that can adapt over time as needs change. Where these models differ most clearly is drive configuration, base dimensions, and how they prioritise indoor access versus outdoor performance.
The Edge 3 is Quantum’s most versatile mid-wheel drive powerchair, designed to work equally well indoors and outdoors. Its true mid-wheel drive layout allows it to turn on the spot, with an exceptionally tight turning radius, making it easy to manage in confined spaces while still feeling stable at speed outdoors.
Power comes from 4-pole motors delivering a top speed of up to 6 mph, paired with Quantum’s Smooth Ride Suspension (SRS). Compared to the Edge 2.0, this suspension setup provides noticeably better stability and comfort over uneven ground, dropped kerbs, and longer outdoor routes. The Edge 3 is fully crash-tested for occupied transport, making it suitable for use in a wheelchair-adapted vehicle.
Seating and clinical flexibility
The standout feature of the Edge 3 is iLevel, Quantum’s seat-raising system that allows driving at walking pace while fully elevated. On the Edge 3, iLevel lifts the seat by 12 inches and allows speeds of up to 4.5 mph, reaching full height in around 24 seconds. This enables eye-level interaction while moving — something most powered lift systems do not allow.

The TRU-Balance 3 seating system is fully configurable, with seat widths and depths from 12–22 inches, making the Edge 3 suitable for both adult and paediatric users. Its modular design allows changes over time, and third-party cushions and backs can be fitted easily.

Control options range from the standard NE+ joystick to the fully expandable Q-Logic 3 system, with Bluetooth environmental control, high-definition displays, specialist access methods, and attendant controls available. Styling is modern and customisable, with 14 colour options, LED fender lights, and drive-wheel accents.
