Quantum’s powered wheelchair range is built around prescriptive design rather than “one-size-fits-all” platforms. Across the Edge and 4Front models, the emphasis is on strong chassis engineering, configurable seating, and control systems that can adapt over time as needs change. Where these models differ most clearly is drive configuration, base dimensions, and how they prioritise indoor access versus outdoor performance.
The 4Front 2 takes a different approach, using front-wheel drive rather than mid-wheel drive. While front-wheel drive can feel different initially, it offers excellent outdoor performance once mastered, particularly when climbing obstacles and transitioning over uneven ground.
The 4Front 2 combines a tight turning radius with a stable, planted feel outdoors. Automotive-grade SRS suspension, Smart Traction Control, and CASE castor technology help maintain grip and stability. 14-inch drive wheels are available with pneumatic, solid, or wider off-road tyres. Power comes from quiet but capable motors delivering a top speed of 6.25 mph, with 70 Ah batteries providing a real-world range of up to 16 miles.
Seating and control
The 4Front 2 uses TRU-Balance 3 seating as standard, with seat sizes from 14 × 14 to 22 × 22 inches. Independent adjustment of seat and back widths allows a precise fit across a wide range of body shapes. Third-party seating systems such as JAY and Matrx can be fitted.
A 10-inch Safe Seat Elevation option allows driving at walking pace when elevated, and powered tilt, recline, and elevating leg rests are available. Controls are centred around Q-Logic 3e as standard, with Bluetooth, USB charging, and specialist input options supported.
The 4Front 2 is fully crash-tested for occupied transport and offers extensive cosmetic customisation, with 14 colours selectable independently across multiple components.
Best suited to: users who want strong outdoor confidence, kerb-handling, and traction, and who are happy with a front-wheel-drive feel.
