The Klaxon Klick Scrambler is a powerful front-mounted add-on designed for wheelchair users who want to explore beyond smooth pavements and typical urban routes. By attaching to a manual wheelchair using Klaxon’s patented linking system, the Scrambler converts the chair into a powered handbike capable of tackling uneven terrain with far less physical effort than pushing manually. The connection system allows the device to attach with a single “click” and can usually be installed without permanently modifying the wheelchair frame, meaning it can be removed whenever manual propulsion is preferred.
The Scrambler is built for traction and torque. Its high-performance 750 W brushless motor produces around 65 Nm of torque, delivering strong pulling power when climbing slopes or travelling across loose or uneven ground. A wide 13.3-inch off-road tyre provides increased grip and stability compared with smaller urban-focused models in the range, allowing the Scrambler to confidently tackle gravel paths, rural tracks and other challenging surfaces.
Despite its rugged capabilities, the Scrambler remains relatively compact and manageable to handle when transporting. The lifting weight is approximately 11.8 kg without the battery, making it practical for vehicle transport while still offering the durability expected from an all-terrain handbike.
Users can choose between several 48-volt lithium battery options depending on how far they intend to travel. Depending on battery capacity, the Scrambler can deliver a range of approximately 15 km, 30 km or up to 50 km under typical test conditions. Maximum speed can reach up to 20 km/h where permitted by local regulations, providing enough performance for longer journeys and varied terrain.
Like the other models in the Klaxon Klick range, the Scrambler benefits from a sophisticated electronic control system designed to give the rider precise control. Motion Direct Control allows smooth acceleration and braking through the throttle lever, while Intelligent Speed Control maintains a consistent set speed even when terrain changes. The Electronic Braking System combines regenerative electronic braking with mechanical disc braking to improve control and safety when slowing down.
A colour LCD display provides clear information such as speed, battery status and trip distance, while also allowing users to adjust parameters such as acceleration levels, braking intensity and speed limits directly through the menu system. This allows the device’s driving characteristics to be tailored to the rider rather than fixed at factory settings.
The Scrambler can be configured with either standard handlebars or tetra controls. The tetra handlebar option allows acceleration and braking through a push-pull motion of the bar, helping users with reduced hand function to operate the device more easily. Both central and lateral linking systems are available, enabling compatibility with a wide range of manual wheelchair frames.
Within the Klaxon Klick range, the Scrambler sits as the all-terrain specialist. While lighter models such as the Klick Light focus on portability and urban travel, the Scrambler is designed for riders who want greater traction, higher torque and the ability to travel confidently across rural paths, gravel tracks and other off-road environments.
