The Klaxon Klick Light is a compact front-mounted power add-on designed to transform an active manual wheelchair into a powered device in seconds. By attaching to the wheelchair’s frame, it provides powered assistance for longer journeys, hills and uneven ground, reducing the physical effort required for everyday travel. The system connects using Klaxon’s patented central linking system, allowing the device to be attached with a simple “click” and removed just as easily when it is no longer needed. The installation does not usually require permanent modification to the wheelchair, and the device can also be disassembled into smaller parts for easier transport or storage.
Weighing just 8.8 kg (excluding the battery), the Klick Light is one of the lightest powered add-on handbikes available. Its low lifting weight makes it particularly suitable for users who need a device that can be lifted into a vehicle, carried indoors or transported regularly. Despite its compact size, the Klick Light is driven by a powerful 750 W brushless motor producing 45 Nm of torque.
A choice of 48-volt lithium battery sizes is available, allowing users to select a range that best suits their lifestyle. Depending on the battery selected, the Klick Light can deliver between approximately 15 km and 50 km of range under typical test conditions. Maximum speed can reach up to 20 km/h where local regulations permit.
Control and safety are supported by Klaxon’s advanced electronic systems. Motion Direct Control allows acceleration and braking to be managed smoothly via the throttle, while Intelligent Speed Control enables the user to set a desired speed that the system maintains automatically, even when travelling over varying terrain. The Electronic Braking System adds additional control when slowing down, combining electronic and mechanical braking for improved safety. These systems are standard across the Klick range and can be adjusted through the onboard display to suit individual preferences.
The high-visibility colour LCD display provides clear information on speed, battery status and trip data, while also allowing users to adjust drive parameters such as acceleration levels, braking intensity and speed limits directly through the menu system. This level of adjustment allows the driving characteristics of the device to be tuned to the user rather than relying on factory settings.
The Klick Light can be configured with either standard handlebars or a tetra handlebar option. The tetra controls allow users with reduced hand function to accelerate and brake by simply pushing or pulling the bar, making the device accessible to a wider range of users. Both central and lateral linking systems are available, allowing compatibility with a variety of wheelchair frame designs.
Within the Klaxon Klick range, the Klick Light sits as the most compact and lightweight option. Models such as the Klick Power, Race and Monster provide larger wheels and increased power for higher performance or off-road environments. However, the Klick Light remains the most practical choice for many users who prioritise portability, low lifting weight and ease of transport while still benefiting from the power and advanced electronics of the Klaxon system.
