The Focus CR is a tilt-in-space wheelchair designed for people with the most advanced postural and pressure-care needs. Its defining feature is the exceptionally high tilt range — up to 50° — which makes it particularly well suited to users who are at higher risk of pressure issues or who need frequent and effective weight redistribution throughout the day.
The tilt mechanism itself is smooth and controlled, and can be locked securely at the required angle. Tilt can be specified to suit the person using or assisting the chair, with options including hand-operated tilt (left, right, or both sides) and foot-operated tilt,
The Focus CR is highly configurable and works well as a long-term seating base. Seating dimensions can be adjusted in small increments, and the chair supports a wide range of backrests, cushions, legrests, headrests, armrests, and positioning components. While Ki’s own Axiom backrests and cushions are designed to integrate neatly with the Focus, the frame also accommodates third-party seating systems. We are able to interface seating such as Matrx backrests, ROHO cushions, JAY seating accessories, Whitmyer headrests, and Stealth.
One of the Focus CR’s strengths is its modular design. As needs change over time, the chair can be adapted rather than replaced, including changes to seating size. A wide range of seat widths, depths, and heights is available, and the maximum user weight of 28.5 stone (with the Focus HD) allows the Focus to accommodate larger users comfortably, with seat sizes up to 24 × 22 inches.
A reclining backrest is a popular upgrade, offering recline up to 85°. When combined with tilt-in-space and elevating legrests, this allows the user to adopt a near-flat resting position, which many people find helpful for comfort and pressure relief.
The Focus CR can also be configured to support carers and attendants. It is compatible with power assist units such as the TGA Duo HD, which attach to the lower frame to reduce the effort required when pushing. Spring-loaded anti-tips are easy to flip out of the way using your feet, avoiding awkward bending.
The chair can be specified with either self-propelled or transit wheels, and drum brakes are a commonly chosen upgrade. Adjustable stroller handles provide a comfortable and secure pushing position, even when the chair is tilted.
Finally, the Focus CR is available in a choice of 19 frame colours, allowing a degree of personalisation while retaining its robust, clinical-grade performance.
