The Pride iGo Lite is a folding carbon fibre lithium powered lightweight powerchair weighing just 18kg when the battery is removed. Suitable for users of up to 21 stone (135kg) the iGo Lite is designed for indoor use predominantly but is capable of short outdoor trips on level ground. With a FlightSafe battery the iGo Lite is 'trip ready' - take the powerchair with you on holiday via air or sea without fuss. We recommend checking with your airline or cruise company before travel.
The iGo is equipped with solid tyres front and rear meaning no punctures and quick replacement when required. With 8.5" drive wheels the powerchair is suitable for all level indoor environments (airports, shopping centres etc) and many outdoor environments (car parks, beach promenades, level access town centres etc). The iGo is not designed to be taken off hard standing, for example onto grass or mud. If you are seeking something a little more capable consider the folding Sunrise Medical Q50R, or a non-folding Sunrise Medical Q200R.
All folding powerchairs have their own advantages and disadvantages and it is worth exploring these differences with an expert. Generally speaking the ability for powerchairs to climb obstacles, handle uneven terrain or traverse mud depends on the size of the wheels, the wattage of the motors and the robustness of the chair. As these qualities improve unfortunately so does the weight. It is an unwritten rule therefore that the heavier a folding chair gets the more capable it is on different terrains. There are exceptions to the rule but this logic tends to apply across most folding powerchairs.
Folding powerchairs are designed to be easily folded and then either lifted manually into the boot of a car, or by using a boot hoist, The iGo is equipped for hoisting and companies like Autochair are able to manage the hoist installation process from start to finish. When lifting folding chairs manually consider where you'll need to lift from and whether you'll be able to do this for the today, and the tomorrow (i.e. in the months and years ahead).
The Igo Lite can be setup for right hand and left hand control but at this present time cannot be controlled from the rear bar (attendant control). The seat comes as standard with a padded foam base cushion and back cushion. The base cushion is removable which means you can insert your own cushion if you'd prefer additional comfort although this will need to be removed before folding.
