The Sunrise Medical Q50R Carbon folding chair is one of the lightest powerchairs on the market weighing in at just 14.5kg without batteries. The maximum user weight of the chair is 136kg (21 stone) and the 250W high-efficiency brushless motors can reach a maximum speed of 4mph. Sunrise Medical quote a maximum range of 12km per battery so with the purchase of the Q50 Carbon Plus you’ll be able to achieve a maximum stated range of 24km. Given the differences often experienced between the manufacturer’s stated ranges and real-world ranges, we recommend assuming you’ll achieve 10km per battery.
The Q50R Carbon lightweight folding powerchair has an 8.4” rear drive wheel with 6.5” front castor wheels which makes it capable of climbing obstacles of up to 40mm and negotiating inclines of up to 6 degrees. The standard seating is designed to be as light as possible and some of our clients have reported the seat cushion to be firmer than they wanted. The good news is that the standard cushion supplied with the chair can be removed and your cushion can be applied via the Velcro strips. (If doing this we recommend a cushion no thicker than 1.5”).
