The Sunrise Medical S425 Mobility Scooter is a favourite thanks to its affordability, long range batteries and popular styling. With larger batteries and a heavier weight capacity compared to the S400 this scooter is a great all-rounder.
The S425 has the same physical dimensions as the S400 but is upgraded with much larger 55Ah batteries and an 8mph (Class 3) motor and power module. Powered by a torquey motor the S425 is capable of climbing slopes of 8 degrees even when loaded to its maximum carrying capacity of 150kg (23.7 stone).
The S425 has all-round suspension which when coupled with the premium padded seating ensures a smooth and comfortable ride, while pneumatic tyres reduces vibration and instability. Front and rear LED lights which are low wattage but very bright ensure you remain seen after dark while a front running lamp helps you to see where you are going.
The S425 has a slightly larger wheel size than the S400 making obstacle climbing that little bit easier. The tyres come as standard as smooth-rolling tyres - excellent for road use and in wet weather - but be careful on mud or grass as they are designed for comfort not traction. Should you require additional traction consider upgrading the tyres post-purchase to off-road knobbly tyres which will bite into the ground better providing better grip. These would only be required on the rear drive wheels.
As found on the S400 the ergonomic handlebar is attached to an infinitely adjustable tiller making adjustments simple and effortless ensuring the most comfortable driving position can be found.
