The Ki Mobility Little Wave Clik is a rigid-frame paediatric wheelchair designed to grow with a child while actively supporting the development of independent mobility skills. It is built around a highly adjustable chassis that allows both seat width and seat depth to increase by up to three inches, with the sling or seat pan itself adjusting rather than needing to be replaced. Key dimensions such as seat height, backrest height, centre of gravity and castor position can also be changed as the child grows or their abilities develop.
One of the Clik’s defining features is how that adjustment is achieved. The Clik system is designed to make growth changes straightforward and repeatable, without requiring a box of spare parts. A growth kit is supplied when needed, meaning adjustments can be made without worrying about losing components or committing to expensive replacements. In practice, the only elements that are typically replaced over time are the seat cushion or backrest.
The Clik is also available in very small starting sizes — from just 8″ by 8″ — allowing it to be used by younger and smaller children than many comparable active wheelchairs. This makes it suitable not just as a “next step” chair, but as an early active wheelchair where independence is being introduced.
Configuration options are extensive. Armrests, footrests, wheels, tyres and handrims can all be specified to suit the child’s needs and abilities. Padded swing-away tubular armrests are a popular choice, with independent angle adjustment and integration into the backrest so they grow with the chair. X-Core mag wheels offer increased stiffness compared to standard mag wheels, with very low maintenance and minimal weight penalty. For children who require more space at the front — for example due to abducted positioning, AFOs or braces — the optional compound offset frame provides additional clearance. Third-party seating and cushions can also be fitted where more specialised support is required.
Stability is addressed in a way that actively supports skill development. Instead of relying solely on traditional anti-tip wheels, the Clik can be specified with a multi-adjustable dynamic fifth wheel. This provides reassurance and balance without artificially limiting what the chair can do. It can be set up to gradually encourage balance, control and confidence as wheelchair skills improve, rather than acting as a permanent restraint. When attendant pushing is needed, a range of push handles is available, including the Ergo Stroller handle, which offers a buggy-style grip and height adjustment.
Despite being a rigid chair, the Clik is straightforward to transport. Quick-release rear wheels remove easily, and the backrest folds and locks down, with the back bar forming a convenient lifting point. Made from high-grade aluminium, transport weight starts from around 5.7 kg, allowing the chair to be lifted into a car without difficulty. It is fully crash-tested and can be supplied with transit brackets for occupied transport in adapted vehicles.
Visually, the Little Wave Clik is unapologetically sporty and expressive. A wide choice of frame colours, accent colours, anodised fittings, hydrographic finishes and designer spoke guards allows the chair to feel personal and fun rather than clinical.
Overall, the Little Wave Clik suits children who are ready to actively self-propel and develop independence, where growth, adjustability and skill progression are central priorities. It is less focused on compact folding or stroller-style convenience, and more on supporting long-term active use.
