The Invacare Softform Premier Active 2 hybrid-mattress combines the clinically proven benefits of the Softform Premier Original with active alternating air cells to provide both prevention and treatment of severe pressure ulcers. The Softform Premier Active 2 is a perfect middle ground between reliable foam surface and air mattress technology.
The Softform Premier Active 2 is known clinically as a SUSD Mattress which stands for Step Up Step Down. This is used to describe the way the mattress can be switched from high pressure relieving foam to a dynamic air controlled surface at just the touch of a button... allowing care home and hospital care staff to respond immediately to changes in risk.
With the pump activated the bow-shaped air cells inflate and deflate beneath the foam surface, transforming the previously static foam into an effective therapeutic surface for the treatment of pressure ulcers.
Along with the higher grade pressure ulcer treatment comes more frequent and more vigorous cleaning regimes. With standard mattress covers the harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaning methods can damage the fibres creating a failure in the barrier. This failure can allow contaminants, bacteria and other liquids through requiring either a full foam wash or replacement. Invacare have developed their Strikethrough Resistant Covers (SRT) specifically to combat this problem. Achieved with a stretchable polyurethane cover Invacare now provide these with all mattresses, while also meeting either Crib 5 or Crib 7 Fire Retardancy standards.
